Does GIZMO work with any cat litter?

GIZMO is optimized for wood pellet litter, which provides superior odor control through natural neutralization. It can also work with clumping litters, but you'll need to remove the sifting tray. We recommend wood pellets for the best experience.

How does the double-layer system actually work?

The upper tray has a sifting grid. When your cat uses the box, urine passes through the grid and is absorbed by wood pellets in the lower tray. These pellets naturally break down and neutralize ammonia odors. Solid waste stays in the upper tray for easy removal.

How often should I clean it?

Scoop solids daily — it takes under 10 seconds. Empty the lower tray every 3–5 days for one cat, every 2–3 days for two cats. A full wash with warm water once every 2–4 weeks keeps it fresh.

When should I replace the wood pellets?

The pellets in the upper tray are slowly spent when they break down into sawdust. You only have to add a few hands of new litter every week to keep it at the recommended 2cm. After 1-2 months, the top layer might need a complete litter replacement. This is also a good time to do a full clean.  Simply empty, rinse the tray, and refill with fresh pellets.

What if I have multiple cats?

GIZMO works well for up to 2 cats. With 2 cats, plan to empty the lower tray every 2–3 days and scoop the upper tray once or twice daily. For 3 or more cats, we'd recommend two units.
